This blog began life as a travel diary and to keep my folks back at home up to date with my experiences as I travelled my way from being a hedge fund trader in London to an Australian native once again with a new career in my sights. However, travelling changes you and travelling also changed my blog. No longer was it enough for me just to document by daily happenings. It was time to get behind the scene and learn the lessons that each experience brought me.
This blog is for those who want to join me on the experience that is life; everyone’s own unique experiment! For those who want to engage in individual thought and see the extraordinary in the ordinary. To share the wisdom of those encountered along the journey of life. Because each of our experiences is unique and we all have something to offer, no matter where we are in the world.
Hi Rebecca,
Great to read your blog. We are off to climb Mt kilimanjaro in July yipee. Have you been there? Any tips fo what to take for high Altitude would be gratfully received.
Good luck with Mt Kilimanjaro! That will be awesome. I’ve not climbed it and am not really an altitude expert, so I can only go by my own experiences from other parts of the world. You’ll want your body to be able to handle the lack of oxygen well, so I would suggest lots and lots of greens (fresh and supplements) to help the red blood cells. Maybe add barley grass or a chlorophyll product to your diet as well. You might also want to add a liquid oxygen supplement, but I’ve never used them and not sure how helpful they are. I would also make sure my cardio fitness was as good as I could get it. Also, while up there, keep well hydrated.
I’ve heard that you have to keep your water close to your body doing that climb as it’s prone to freezing, but I’m sure you’ll get all that kind of info before you start.
Like I said, I’m not a medical expert or a nutritionist, so can only pass on info that has helped me. Would love to hear your views as well. Let me know how you go!
Happy adventuring!
